Models
Which models you can connect to Doka — cloud and local — and how to pick one for the task.
Doka isn't tied to one provider. You pick the model yourself — and decide what goes where.
Cloud models
Connect with an API key. Good when you need maximum power and don't mind sending context to the provider's cloud.
Local models
Run on your own machine — data never leaves the computer. A bit weaker than top-tier cloud models, but plenty for many tasks, with maximum privacy.
Simple rule: sensitive data → local model; a heavy one-off task → cloud. Doka lets you switch between them.
How to choose
| Task | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Working with private documents | Local model |
| A large one-off refactor | Cloud model |
| Quick edits and routine work | Local or a light cloud model |
Once you've picked a model, you can connect tools through MCP.
Not sure which local model your hardware can handle — the model picker calculator will tell you from your GPU or memory, right in the browser.
